Release Notes Version 8.8

Claims Workspace™ · Cotality Estimate™ · Estimate™ for iOS

Cotality Rebranding — New Claims Workspace™ URL

The Claims Workspace™ web address now reflects the Cotality brand: Claims Workspace™ is available at:

us-claimsworkspace.cotality.app in the US

ca-claimsworkspace.cotality.app in Canada

uk-claimsworkspace.cotality.app in the UK

The old production addresses keep working until they are retired on June 1, 2027. Users who open Claims Workspace™ at an old address are not redirected automatically: a "We've moved!" banner shows the new address, and its "Take me there" button opens the same page at the new address so that users can update their bookmarks. Administrators need to update bookmarks, API integration URLs, and single sign-on configurations before the old addresses are retired. Claims Workspace™ Link™ redirects policyholders to the new address automatically, and notification emails are sent from new Cotality sender addresses.

Improve Documentation Commands in the Claim Navigation Panel (Cotality Estimate™)

Cotality Estimate™ users can now add, import, rename, and delete claim objects directly from the Claim Navigation Panel. Right-clicking a parent node, such as Estimates or Diagrams, offers the same add and import commands as the Add button; right-clicking a specific object offers Rename and Delete; and the F2 and Delete keys rename or delete the selected object.

Estimate™ for iOS — Upload Photos When the App Is Closed

Estimate™ for iOS users can now close the app or lock the device while photos upload: the upload continues in the background and the photos arrive in Claims Workspace™ without the app being kept open. If the app is force-closed, photos already uploaded stay uploaded and the rest are sent at the next sync. A panel below the navigation bar shows the upload's progress and completion and, if photos fail to upload, names the affected claims and offers Retry where possible. This release covers photos only; other claim data, such as diagrams, estimates, and forms, still uploads only while the app is open.

Specify the Order of a New Line Item

Cotality Estimate™ and Claims Workspace™ users can now add a line item where it belongs amongst a selected room's items. On the Diagram, when an item is selected in the Applied Items Panel, a new line item is placed directly after it instead of at the end of the list on the page. On the Estimate page, when an existing estimate line item is selected and Add Item is used, the new line item is placed directly after it. New Move to Top and Move to Bottom commands move selected items to the start or end of the room's list without dragging. Items applied to several rooms at once are still added at the end of each room's list.

Claim Special Considerations

Company administrators can now define Special Consideration categories (for example, "Legal") and the considerations under each (for example, "Power of Attorney"), and can require a comment whenever a consideration is applied. Once these are configured, claim participants in Claims Workspace™ can tag a claim with any defined consideration, choose which companies can see it (the claim originator always can), and either enter an expiry date or select Never expires. As circumstances change, participants can add further comments and update the status of a consideration, and every status change, expiry change, and comment is kept in a history log with the user and date. Users who subscribe to the new Special Considerations notifications are informed when a consideration is added, commented on, or changes status, as long as their company can see it. Claims carrying a Special Consideration can be found through a list column, advanced search, and a template report, and the considerations are also available in Cotality Estimate™ and Estimate™ for iOS.

Roof Waste Calculator — Factors in the Automatic Line Item Note

The Roof Waste Calculator in Cotality Estimate™ now lists the factors behind the waste percentage in its automatic line item note: the valley type, and the hip and ridge cap, eave starter course, and rake starter course when they are included. Reviewers can confirm what the waste covers directly from the estimate line, and the note is kept up to date whenever the calculator options or the roof change, including in Claims Workspace™ and Estimate™ for iOS.

Roof Waste Calculator — Enforce Originator Default Settings

Company administrators can now lock the hip and ridge cap and starter course options of the Roof Waste Calculator to their Claim Defaults, using the new "Prevent users from editing Hip/Ridge Cap and Starter Course options" setting. When enabled, users on claims created by that company cannot change the Roof Waste Calculator settings for hip and ridge cap or starter course from the default when applying an item to a claim. Users can still specify the valley type.

Coverage and Deductible Editing for Contractor and Claim Management Assignees

Two new allowed features, enabled by Cotality at a claim originator's request, now let the originator allow contractor assignees, claim management company assignees, or both, to edit coverages and deductibles on its claims. As a result, these assignees can update the flat deductible and add, edit, or delete coverages and sub-coverages on the Loss Summary in Claims Workspace™, Cotality Estimate™, and Estimate™ for iOS, instead of asking the insurance company to make the changes.

User Last Activity

On the User Accounts page and the Licenses page, administrators can now see when each user was last active in Claims Workspace™, Cotality Estimate™, and Estimate™ for iOS/Capture. Users who have never used a product show "Never", making it easy to follow up after a rollout or reassign unused licenses. The last activity information is also included when users are exported from the User Accounts page.

Change Tax Rate Lookup to Vertex Inc.

US claim tax rate lookups will now be provided by Vertex Inc. instead of Avalara. Tax lookups are triggered at the same points in the claim workflow, with the same prompts and messages.

Embedded Power BI Pricing Dashboard in Claims Workspace™

The interactive Cotality Pricing trends report on the pricing database can now be accessed directly from Claims Workspace™. The Cotality Pricing trends command in the Admin menu opens the embedded dashboard, where users can filter, drill down, and compare trends without a separate Power BI sign-in. For access to this report, please contact your Customer Support Manager or technical support.

Available in the US only.

API — Lock an Estimate Without Changing Its Status

API integrations can now lock an estimate without changing its status, using the new LockClaimEstimate method in the REST, SOAP, and DHA-C APIs, so changes pushed afterwards land in a new revision that is clearly separated from the edits already made in the unlocked version of the estimate.

API — Auto Pricing Valuation Mode for Contents Items

Contents partners and integrations can now record "Auto Pricing" or "Other" as the Valuation mode of a contents item.
